Personal and Ministerial History

Prior to ordination

College Years:
Two summers of Caravanning, worked with congregations, youth and parents.
Established the Christian Vocations Council, providing an evening for youth in congregations focused on the baptismal calling of all and highlighting callings to public ministry of the church as social workers, youth workers, deaconesses, teachers and pastors.

Seminary Years:
Chaired the St. Louis Chapter of the Lutheran Human Relations Association, inviting similar Presbyterian, Roman Catholic and other groups to participate in restaurant testing to identify racial discrimination.

In 1963-64 edited the Seminarian, a sixty-four page student theological journal published three times a year.  Established baptism, the eucharist, and absolution as the three major themes.
